Edwin joined the 5th Battalion while they were at Turton, but was too late to go out with the 1st/5th to Egypt. He accompanied the 2nd/5th to Southport, and later, when more officers were required, he was transferred from one battalion to the other, and proceeded to the Dardanelles. |

Second Lieutenant Frizelle, of the 5th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (T), is reported killed. The deceased was not a local man, although an officer in the Bury Battalion. He came from Belfast, where his father is largely interested in the linen industry. He was being educated for the medical profession, but left his studies and joined the forces. He joined the 5th Battalion while they were at Turton, but was too lated to go out with the 1st/5th to Egypt. He accompanied the 2nd/5th to Southport, and later, when more officers were required, he was transferred from one battalion to the other, and proceeded to the Dardanelles. He was about 21 years of age. |
