Edwin Samuel Frizelle was the son of William George and Janie Frizelle of Dungannon, County Tyrone and later of Knutsford House, Cliftonville, Belfast. He was born about 1894. Edwin’s father was a linen factory manager. He was educated at Queen's University. Edwin Frizelle had moved to Bury and intended studying for the medical profession, but upon the outbreak of war he volunteered for active service, and received his commission in the Lancashire Fusiliers in August 1914. Second Lieutenant Edwin S Frizelle, 5th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, was killed in action at the Dardenelles on Tuesday, 3rd August 1915. Lieut Frizelle was the son of Mr William G Frizelle, Drumreagh, Alliance Avenue, Belfast. He was 21.
