Further Information
Joseph Scott was the son of James and Lizzie Scott (nee Doherty). Both parents were born in Donegal, so it’s possible they were married in Donegal.
Joseph Scott was born on 5th April 1899 in the Sixmilecross area. He was the youngest of four known children.
Known family: James Scott, Lizzy Scott, Maggie Scott (born 27th June 1891), Teresa Elizabeth Scott (born 15th November 1893), Peter Scott (born 28th July 1896), Joseph Scott (born 5th April 1899).
The 1901 census records Joseph as 2 years old. The census transcription seems to be very erroneous. 'Tesopl' is Joseph. A look at the original census form shows it to Joseph. His mother is described as “Penny”, which again is obviously Lizzy.
By 1911 it seems Joseph was 13 years old and working as a servant at Shantavny Scotch, Ballygawley, Tyrone.
Joseph Scott enlisted in Beragh, County Tyrone.

Over 90% of those commemorated died between July and November 1916.
