James Kelly was the son of James and Mary Kelly. He was born in Ballymcroy about 1886. They were a farming family from Caldrum, Augher, County Tyrone. James was married to Sarah Kelly.she lived in Coulsdon, Surrey, England. James Kelly enlisted in Omagh. He was living in Merstham, Surrey. Private James Kelly was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards when he died of wounds on Tuesday 21st May 1918.
