Gunner George Henry Wright was serving with the 14th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery when he died of wounds on 23rd July 1917.
George Wright is buried in Noeux-les-Mines Communal Cemetery. His inscription reads: THY WILL BE DONE. The cemetery was used by the Commonwealth forces (in succession to the French) from June 1915 to August 1917. The earlier burials were carried out by units and field ambulances but in April 1917, the 7th Casualty Clearing Station began to use the cemetery.
Gunner George Henry Wright is commemorated locally on Dungannon War Memorial.
There is also a Private G H Wright on the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers panel, but this almost certainly refers to George Wright of Aughnacloy, who died while with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
Gunner George Henry Wright is also commemorated locally on the family headstone in the grounds of St John's Church of Ireland in Caledon. The headstone reads:
‘In loving memory of SAMUEL WRIGHT, who died 24th August 1914, aged 74 years. Also his son GEORGE HENRY, killed in action in France on 23rd July 1917, age 21 years. Also MARY ELIZABETH ANDERSON, Widow of above SAMUEL WRIGHT, who fell asleep 11th November 1936, aged 79 years.’
