John Finnigan was the son of Patrick and Lizzie Finnigan. He was born about 1888, the oldest of four known children, all born in the Caledon area. His father was a labourer. John became a servant and labourer. He was married in August 1912. He and Annie had two children. Lance Corporal John Finnigan was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Leinster Regiment when he was killed in action on 27th June 1916 in France. In his will, John left all to his wife Annie, who was living in Church Street, Caledon.

John Finnigan was the son of Patrick and Lizzie Finnigan. Patrick Finnigan and Elizabeth McCreesh were married on 20th July 1887 in the district of Armagh.

The 1901 census lists John as age 12, living with the family at house 8 in Foyar, Glenaul, County Armagh. John was still at school. His father was a labourer. Foyar lies east of Caledon.
The 1911 census possibly lists John as age 21, a servant living with the McGee family at house 3 in Glenarb, Caledon.
John Finnigan and Annie Walsh were married on 8th August 1912 in the district of Dungannon. They went on to have at least two children.

Lance Corporal John Finnigan is buried in St Patrick’s Cemetery in Loos, France.
