George Walker was the son of Robert Walker and Lucinda Walker, of Lisnaweary, Augher, Co. Tyrone. George was born about 1895 in Ballygawley, County Tyrone. His father was a farmer. The family lived in Lisnawery, Favor Royal, County Tyrone. George Walker enlisted in Finner Camp, County Donegal. Private George Walker was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action near Authuile in France on 8th May 1916. He was 21 years old.

Authuile (now Authuille), is a village 5 Kms north of Albert. Authuile Military Cemetery is on the south side of the village. The Cemetery is signposted on the main road (D159) through the village.
