Herbert Igoe was the son of William and Isabella Igoe. He was born in Moy, County Tyrone about 1888. The 1901 census shows Herbert to be 13 years old. He was living with the family at Dungannon Street, Moy, Tyrone. He had left school and was a shop assistant. Herbert’s father William was a horse dealer and trainer. Private Herbert Igoe was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards when he died on 9th October 1917. He was about 29 years old.

The names of those from New Zealand units are inscribed on panels within the New Zealand Memorial Apse located at the centre of the Memorial.
