Summary      
Francis Murphy was the son of James Murphy of Portadown, Francis was born about 1865. Francis served for a time with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. Francis Murphy and Minnie Lewis were married on 9th April 1897 in the district of Craigavon. They had a total of six children, four surviving. By 1901 they were living in Portadown. By 1911, the family were living near Moy. Francis was a farm labourer. He reenlisted in Dungannon. Lance Sergeant Francis Murphy was serving with the 12th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he died in Belfast on 7th January 1917. He was 52 years old. He is buried in Belfast City Cemetery
