Summary      
Hugh Devlin was the son of Mr J Devlin and Charlotte Devlin. He was born on 16th June 1891 in the Dungannon area. Hugh later emigrated to Canada. Where he worked as an electrician. He enlisted on 28th April 1915 at Calgary with the Canadian Infantry. Private Hugh Devlin served with the 10th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry. On 9th April 1917, shortly after the commencement of the Vimy Ridge attack, Private Devlin was wounded. He died of wounds the following day on 10th April 1917 in France.

Barlin is a village about 11 Kms south-west of Bethune on the D188, between the Bethune-Arras and Bethune-St. Pol roads, about 6.5 Kms south-east of Bruay. The Communal Cemetery and Extension lie to the north of the village on the D171 road to Houchin.
