Summary      
Thomas Crorken was the son of Michael and Margaret Crorken. Thomas was born on 18th February 1897 in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh. The 1911 census lists Thomas as age 14 living with the family at house 4 in Rosemeilan, Cole, County Tyrone. Thomas had left school and like his father, was working as a farm labourer. Thomas was living in Cavans, Fivemiletown when he enlisted in Armagh on 16th November 1916 with the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers. Following training, Private Thomas Crorken was posted to the 1st Battalion and arrived in France on 23rd May 1917. Private Thomas Crorken was killed in action 15 March 1918. He was 21 years old. Private Crorken has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

Summary      
The Thiepval Memorial will be found on the D73, next to the village of Thiepval, off the main Bapaume to Albert road (D929). Each year a major ceremony is held at the memorial on 1 July. The Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme is a war memorial to 72,337 missing British and South African servicemen who died in the Battles of the Somme of the First World War between 1915 and 1918, with no known grave. It is near the village of Thiepval, Picardy in France. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, Thiepval has been described as "the greatest executed British work of monumental architecture of the twentieth century"
