Summary
Eugene Rowland Grogan was the son of Michael and Catherine Grogan. His father was in the R.I.C. Rowland Grogan was born in Coalisland, County Tyrone on 2nd November 1893. He was one of about 15 children. By 1896 Michael and the family had moved to Aughnacloy. By 1911 the family had moved to Belfast. Roland had enlisted and was at Army Barracks in Dundalk. Roland Grogan married Fanny Lynch about 1913. He served with the Royal Field Artillery. He was awarded the Military Medal. Sergeant Roland Grogan was serving with "D" Battery of the 83rd Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery when he was killed in action in France on the 17th October 1917
The Cemetery is located on the Diksmuidseweg road (N369) in the direction of Boezinge. From Ieper station turn left into Fochlaan and go to the roundabout, turn right and go to the next roundabout. Here turn left and drive to the next roundabout, where you should turn right into Oude Veurnestraat. Take the second turning on the left, which is the Diksmuidseweg and carry on under the motorway bridge and the cemetery is another 300 metres on the left hand side of the road.
