25/04/2021 Known family: Samuel Haggerty, Jane Haggerty, Anne Haggerty (born 9th October 1876), Catherine Haggerty (born 15th June 1878), John Haggerty (born 27th May 1880), Edward Haggerty (born 3rd April 1883), Maggie Haggerty (born 14th March 1888), Thomas Haggerty (born 10th December 1893), Matthew Haggerty (born 11th September 1896).
25/04/2021 Matthew Haggerty was the youngest son of Samuel and Jane Haggerty. Samuel Haggerty and Jane Darcy were married on 5th July 1876 in the district of Dungannon.
25/04/2021 Matthew Haggerty was born on 11th September 1896 in the Caledon/Tynan area. It is believed he was the youngest of nine children, seven surviving.
25/04/2021 Private M Haggerty has no known grave and is commemorated on panel 42 on Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres in Belgium.

25/04/2021 Private Matthew Haggerty was serving with the 7th/8th Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was killed in action on 7th June 1917 at the Battle of Messines. He was 22 years old.
25/04/2021 In his will, Matthew left all to his father, Sam Haggerty, who was living at Enagh House in Caledon.
