24/10/2021 Oddly, there’s no sign of their mother and father in the 1911 census. The family had split up.
24/10/2021 Charles Murray was the second son of Francis and Teresa Murray. Francis Murray and Teresa Birney were married on 20th November 1892 in the district of Omagh.
24/10/2021 Charles Murray was born on 26th February 1896 in Mullanboy, which lies just north of Fintona, County Tyrone. He was the second of at least four children.
24/10/2021 The 1901 census records Charles as 5 years old, living with the family at house 41 in Garvaghy, Errigal, County Tyrone. His father was a farm labourer who was born in Scotland. His mother was born in India.

24/10/2021 Private Charles Murray was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he died of enteric fever on Tuesday 9th November 1915.
24/10/2021 Private Charles Murray is buried in Chatby Military and War Memorial Cemetery in Alexandria in Egypt. His inscription reads: WITH GOD FOR EVER

30/12/2015 Charles’ brothers, Francis and Patrick, also died in World War One. Remarkably his two brothers died within 4 days of each other in August 1917.
