Andrew Gawley was the second son of Andrew and Lizzie Gawley. Andrew Gawley and Lizzie Hackett were married about 1886, although no record can be found on GRONI.
Andrew Gawley was born on 15th January 1890. He was the third of nine children, all born in the Caledon area.
The 1901 census records 11 year old Andrew as living with the family at Tannaghlane, Caledon, Tyrone. His father was a farmer.
Family: Andrew Gawley, Lizzie Gawley, Mary Minnie Gawley (born 12th May 1886), James Gawley (born 24th December 1887), Andrew Gawley (born 15th January 1890), John Gawley (born 5th December 1891), Robert Gawley (born 3rd January 1894) , Margaret Anne Gawley (born 20th June 1896), Martha Jane Gawley (born 10th June 1899), David Gawley (born 18th July 1902), Joseph Gawley (18th October 1904).

Last Will and Testament of Private Andrew Gawley dated 28th February 1917:
In the event of my death, I give the whole of my property and effects to my father Me Andrew Gawley, Tannaghlane, Caledon, County Tyrone. Private, 4th Royal Irish Fusiliers, 28th February 1917.
Private Andrew Gawley is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension in the Somme region of France.
Private Andrew Gawley is commemorated locally on Dungannon War Memorial.
Andrew Gawley is also commemorated on the WWI Roll of Honour in Minterburn Presbyterian Church as Private A Galway. It is not known if this is an actual physical memorial.
NOTE: Barbara Murray, who has researched this area, has confirmed that Private A Galway of Tannaghlane is Private Andrew Gawley. There is a reference to this information coming from the War Memorial in Minterburn Church. The Presbyterian Roll of Honour incorrectly records the name as Andrew Galway. It should be Andrew Gawley. As a result we have merged A Galway with Andrew Gawley in the database. Private A Galway is therefore removed from the list.
The CWGC record Private A Gawley as the son of Andrew Gawley of Cappy, Tynan, County Armagh.
