Daniel Donnelly was the eldest son of William and Jane Donnelly. He was born on 17th July 1886, one of at least eight children. He was born in Dungannon. The family moved to Belfast sometime between 1891 and 1894. By 1910 they were living in Getty Street. William Donnelly was a carpenter, Daniel was a cabinet maker. Private Donnelly arrived in France on 22nd August 1914. Private Daniel Donnelly was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was killed in action on Saturday 14th November 1914.

Daniel Donnelly was the eldest son of William and Jane Donnelly. William Donnelly and Jane Kelly were married on 15th October 1880 in the district of Dungannon.
Daniel Donnelly was born on 17th July 1886. He was one of at least eight children, all but the youngest two being born in Dungannon.

The family moved to Belfast sometime between 1891 and 1894.
The 1901 census lists 14 year old Daniel living with his family at house 54 in Alexander Street West, Smithfield, Belfast. Daniel was still at school. His father was a Yarn Spinner Mill Worker.
The 1911 census records Daniel as age 26 living with the family at house 12 in Getty Street, Falls, Belfast. Daniel is working as a cabinet maker.
Private Daniel Donnelly was formerly with the East Lancs Regt. (No. 8222)
Daniel Donnelly enlisted in Belfast.

Private Donnelly arrived in France on 22nd August 1914.
Private Daniel Donnelly was with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Fusiliers when he was killed in action on Saturday 14th November 1914.
In his will, Daniel left all to his mother, who was living at 12 Getty Street, Belfast.

Private Daniel Donnelly is buried in Houplines Communal Cemetery Extension which lies two kilometres east of the centre of Armentieres in France.
