John Bradley was the son of John and Harriet Bradley. He was born on born 5th April 1907 in the Benburb area. He was one of at least ten children. His father and grandfather were farmers. John Bradley came to Calgary in Canada in 1926. Prior to enlisting John was employed by the Empress Hotel. John Bradley enlisted with the army in 1942, proceeding overseas in July 1943. Gunner John Bradley was serving with the 19th Field Regiment of the Royal Canadian Artillery when he was killed in action in Europe on 24th February 1945.

The 1911 census lists John as age 4, living with the family at house 3 in Tullylearn, Moy, County Tyrone. His father and grandfather were farmers.

Gunner John Bradley, 36, was killed in action in February. He was believed to be fighting in Germany. Born in Ireland, Gunner Bradley came to Calgary in 1926. Prior to enlisting he was employed by the Empress Hotel. He enlisted with the army in 1942, proceeding overseas in July 1943. He is survived by his wife and four daughters, Thelma, Lorraine, Dorothy and Jacqueline, all of 2327 2a Street E. His mother and father, Mr and Mrs John Bradley, and two brothers and seven sisters are all in Ireland. A sister, Mrs G J Riezebos, lives at 2123 16th Street E.
Gunner John Bradley is buried in Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in Holland. Most of those buried in the cemetery were Canadians, many of whom died in the Battle of the Rhineland, when the 2nd and 3rd Canadian Infantry Divisions and the 4th Canadian Armoured Division took part in the drive southwards from Nijmegen to clear the territory between the Maas and the Rhine in February and March 1945.
John Bradley is commemorated locally on Moy War Memorial.
