Summary      
Andrew Conlan was the son of Patrick and Sarah Conlan. He was born in Donaghmore, County Tyrone on 4th March 1881. By 1901 Andrew was a 20 year old postman living in Donaghmore. Andrew later moved to Newcastle-on-Tyne and married. Private Andrew Conlan was serving with the 26th (Tyneside Irish) Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers when he was killed in action whilst acting as stretcher-bearer on 28th April 1917.

Andrew Conlan was the son of Patrick and Sarah Conlan.
Patrick had been a U.S. Army veteran who had fought in the American Civil War. Sarah was born in the United States.
Patrick Conlan and Sarah Litton were married on 16th October 1879 in the district of Dungannon.
Andrew was born in Donaghmore, County Tyrone on 4th March 1881.
Known family: Patrick Conlan, Sarah Conlan, Andrew Conlan (born 4th March 1881, Dungannon), Sarah Ellen Conlan (born 25th June 1885, Dungannon).
By 1901 Patrick's father had died. Andrew was a 20 year old postman living in Donaghmore with his mother and sister.
Andrew was the husband of Teresa Conlan, of 75 Alexander Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne.

Private Andrew Conlan was serving with the 26th (Tyneside Irish) Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers when he was killed in action whilst acting as stretcher-bearer on 28th April 1917.
From the Belfast Newsletter dated 28th May 1917:
Private Andrew Conlan, Northumberland Fusiliers, killed on 8th May, son of the late Mr Patrick Conlan, Donaghmore, County Tyrone, a veteran of the American Civil War.
From the Tyrone Courier dated 31 May 1917
Mrs Sarah Conlan, Donaghmore, has received intimation that her son, Private Andrew Conlan, Northumberland Fusiliers was killed on 8th May (incorrect), whilst acting as stretcher-bearer. His father, the late Mr Patrick Conlan, fought in the American Civil War.
Private Andrew Conlan is buried in Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France. His inscription simply reads R.I.P.
There is an A Conlan listed on the Newcastle 1914-18 Post Office Roll of Honour Plaque. The plaque formerly was in the Central Post Office in St Nicholas Street, Newcastle. It now resides in the Royal Mail Processing Centre at Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead.
The CWGC record Private Andrew Conlan as the son of Patrick and Sarah Conlan of Donaghmore, County Tyrone. He is also recorded as the husband of Teresa Conlan of 75 Alexander Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne, England.
