Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock was the eldest son of Hugh Warnock and Martha Jane Warnock. Hugh was born 27 February 1893 in Clogher. Hugh’s father was a Medical Doctor. Hugh was educated St Columba’s College, Rathfarnham and Trinity College, Dublin where he was a member of the OTC. On the outbreak of war Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock went to France in June with the Royal Irish Fusiliers. He was shot in the head while on patrol on 12th August. Lieutenant Hugh Warnock died from wounds received in action on 16 August 1915. He was 22 years old.

Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock was the eldest son of Hugh Warnock and Martha Jane Warnock. Hugh Warnock and Martha Stewart were married on 2nd October 1890 in the district of Dungannon.
Hugh was born on 27th February 1893. He was one of five children, all born in Clogher.
Known family: Hugh Warnock, Martha Jane Warnock, Mildred Helena Annie Elizabeth Hugh Warnock (born 18th November 1891), Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock (born 27th February 1893), Euphemia Alexandria Warnock (born 13th January 1895), Geoffrey Stewart Warnock (born 12th January 1898), Dorothy Edith Warnock (born 1st January 1899).
The 1901 census records Hugh Adolphus H as 8 years old. The family were living at house 38 in Clogher, Tyrone. Hugh's father was a Medical Doctor.

Hugh was educated St Columba's College, Rathfarnham Dublin.
The 1911 census records Hugh as 18 years old. He was described as a scholar. His father was now a magistrate was well as a doctor. The family were still living in Clogher.
He later studied at Trinity College, Dublin where he was a member of the Trinity College Dublin Officers Training Corps (OTC)
1914
On the outbreak of war Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock obtained a 2nd Lieutenancy in the Royal Irish Fusiliers on 15th August 1914.

Lieutenant Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock went of France in June with the 4th Battalion, attached to 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers.
Hugh Warnock and was promoted May 1915.
Lieutenant Warnock was shot in the head while on patrol duty on 12th August 1915.
Lieutenant Hugh Warnock died from wounds received in action on 16 August 1915. He was 22 years old.

Lieutenant H A Warnock, 4th Royal Irish Fusiliers, attached to the 1st Battalion, and officially reported wounded, is a son of the late Dr H Warnock, of Clogher.
From the Tyrone Courier dated 23 September 1915:
Lieutenant H.A.H. Warnock, of the 4th Battalion (attached 1st) Royal Irish Fusiliers, who was previously reported missing, is now reported wounded and missing. This officer is a son of the late Dr H Warnock, of Clogher'
From the Belfast Newsletter dated 3rd November 1915:
News has just been received through the British Red Cross Inquiry Department of the death of Lieutenant H A H Warnock, of the Royal Irish Fusiliers, 4th Battalion, attached to the first Battalion, which occurred on 16th August, 1915 at Bapaume. He was officially reported wounded and missing on the 12th August, and his friends have been is suspense as to his fate until a few days ago. Lieutenant Warnock, aged 21 years, was the eldest son of the late Dr Hugh Warnock and of Mrs Warnock, Clogher, County Tyrone. Educated at St Columba’s College and Trinity College, Dublin, he gained his commission from the O.T.C. in August 1914, and was promoted in May of the following year. He was sent to France in June last. Seep sympathy is felt with Mrs Warnock and her family in her bereavement, following so soon after the death of Dr Warnock in December last.

Lieut. H. A. H. Warnock, 4th Irish Fusiliers, has died of wounds received in France. He was reported wounded and missing on August 12th, and no news of his fate was obtained for some time. After exhaustive enquiries, the British Red Cross Inquiry Department for wounded and missing prisoners has ascertained that Lieut. Warnock succumbed to his wounds on 16th August at Bapaume. The deceased, who was 21 years of age, was the eldest son of Dr. Hugh Warnock, and Mrs Warnock, of Clogher

Lieutenant H A H Warnock, 4th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, was reported wounded and missing on 12th August, and no news of his fate was obtained for some time. After exhaustive enquiries, the British Red Cross Inquiry Department for wounded and missing prisoners has ascertained that Lieutenant Warnock succumbed to his wounds on 16th August at Bapaume, and the sad news has now been communicated to them. The deceased, who was 21 years of age, was the eldest son of Dr Hugh Warnock and Mrs Warnock of Clogher. He was educated at St Columba’s College and Trinity College, Dublin, gaining his commission from the O.T.C. in August 1914, and being posted to the 4th Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers, with whom he served with at Carrickfergus and Belfast. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1st May a few weeks before he left before the front. Great sympathy is felt with Mrs Warnock and her family in the loss of this promising young officer, following so soon after the death of his father in December last.
A comrade wrote saying he was a great favourite with both officers and men in his battalion, and they greatly regretted this promising young officer.
Memorials
Lieutenant Hugh Warnock is buried in Achiet-le-Grand Communal Cemetery Extension. Achiet-le-Grand is a village nineteen kilometres south of Arras in France.
Lieutenant Hugh Warnock is commemorated locally on Clogher War Memorial and on the WWI tablet in St Macartan's Cathedral in Clogher
Lieutenant Hugh Warnock is commemorated on the War Memorial in Reading Rooms at Trinity College Dublin.
The CWGC records Lieutenant Hugh Adolphus Hector Warnock as the son of Hugh Warnock M.D. and Mrs M I Warnock of Glenalla, Clogher, County Tyrone.
