John Toner was the eldest son of William and Sarah Toner. He was born on 10th December 1875. He was one of ten children, seven surviving, all born in the Dungannon town area. John worked at the local mill in Dungannon most of his life. Private John Toner was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action in Belgium on 24th May 1915.

John Toner was born on 10th December 1875. He was one of ten children, seven surviving, all born in the Dungannon town area.

The 1911 census shows the family living at house 6 in Railway View, Dungannon, Tyrone. John was now 36 years old and not married. Most of the family now worked at the local mill.
John Toner enlisted in Dungannon.

Private John Toner was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action in Belgium on 24th May 1915.
Private John Toner has no known grave and is commemorated on Panels 44-46 of the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
