Private James Neely (G/17550) was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France on 7th June 1917 during the Battle of Messines.

Lance Corporal John(?) Neely arrived in France with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers on 18th November 1915.
Private James Neely (G/17550) was serving with the 9th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France on 7th June 1917 during the Battle of Messines.
Private James Neely is buried in Wytschaete Military Cemetery near Ypres.
Private James Neely is also commemorated locally on Clogher War Memorial and on a tablet in St. Macartan's Cathedral in Clogher.
Private George Neely was also from the Clogher area and died in the war. He had a brother called James. It CANNOT be confirmed at this point that the two men were brothers.
