Robert Mulholland was the eldest son of Robert and Martha Mulholland. He was born in Randalstown on 3rd August 1886. He was the eldest of at least nine children. Around 1888, the family moved to the Caledon area. His father was a power loom tuner. Robert went on to become one too. He enlisted in Peebles, Scotland. Private Robert Mulholland was serving with the 8th Battalion of the Royal Scots when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on the 16th May 1915.

The 1911 census lists Robert as age 24, living with the family at house 19 in Mullan, Figullar, County Monaghan. Mullan lies just west of Caledon. Robert was working as a power loom tuner. His father was a power loom tuner foreman.

Private Mulholland arrived in France with the Royal Scots on 5th November 1914.
Private Robert Mulholland was serving with the 8th Battalion of the Royal Scots when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on the 16th May 1915.
Private Robert Mulholland has no known grave and is commemorated on Panel 4 of the Le Touret Memorial in Pas de Calais, France.
His next of kin would have received his medals which included the 1914/15 Star, Victory Medal and British War Medal.
Private Robert Mulholland is commemorated locally on the WWI Roll of Honour in St John Parish Church in Caledon.
