William Henry Johnstone was the son of William and Susan Henry Johnstone. He was born on 5th January 1889 in Ballyvaddan, Fivemiletown. The family moved to Glasgow. His father was a joiner and latterly a labourer in the docks. William was the husband of Margaret Brown Campbell Johnstone. William enlisted early in 1915.
