John James Cuddy was the eldest son of James and Catherine Cuddy. John Cuddy was born on 23rd November 1893 in Aughnacloy, County Tyrone. The family worked for the railways. Private John Cuddy was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action at Gallipoli on 17th August 1915. He was 21 years old.

John James Cuddy was the eldest son of James and Catherine Cuddy. James Cuddy and Catherine Mullan were married about 1892.
John Cuddy was born on 23rd November 1893 in Aughnacloy, County Tyrone. He was the eldest of seven children, six surviving.
The 1901 census records the family living at Glencrew, Aughnacloy Rural, Tyrone. John was 7 years old. John’s father was a Mill’s Man on the Railway.
Family: James Cuddy, Catherine Cuddy, John James Cuddy (born 23rd November 1893), Mary Jane Cuddy (born 21st August 1895), Francis Cuddy (born 18th September 1897), Thomas Cuddy (born 7th May 1900), Bridget Cuddy (born 8th June 1903), Agnes Cuddy (born 19th June 1905, died 20th June 1905), Patrick George Cuddy (born 4th November 1907).
The 1911 census shows the family still living at Glencrew, Aughnacloy Rural, Tyrone. John was 17 years old and working as a Railway painter. His father was a railway labourer and his mother was a railway gate keeper.
The Railway Roll of Honour lists J Cuddy as a labourer with Clogher Valley Railway.
John Cuddy enlisted in Omagh.

Private Cuddy arrived in the Balkans on 9th August 1915.
Private John Cuddy was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action at Gallipoli on 17th August 1915. He was 21 years old.
Private John Cuddy has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial at Gallipoli.
The CWGC records Private Cuddy as the son of James Cuddy of Aughnacloy, County Tyrone.
