John Cuddy was born on 23rd November 1893 in Aughnacloy, County Tyrone. He was the eldest of seven children, six surviving.
The 1901 census records the family living at Glencrew, Aughnacloy Rural, Tyrone. John was 7 years old. John’s father was a Mill’s Man on the Railway.

The Railway Roll of Honour lists J Cuddy as a labourer with Clogher Valley Railway.
John Cuddy enlisted in Omagh.
Private Cuddy arrived in the Balkans on 9th August 1915.
Private John Cuddy was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action at Gallipoli on 17th August 1915. He was 21 years old.
Private John Cuddy has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial at Gallipoli.
