Summary      
Patrick Hamill was the eldest son of George and Rose Hamill. He was the oldest of nine children. They lived in Roan, His father was a blacksmith. Patrick joined the RIC. He later enlisted in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Gunner Patrick Hamill was serving with the 2nd Battery, 13th Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery when he was injured and died of wounds in a Liverpool hospital on 26th March 1915.
