Victor Reid was born and lived in County Tyrone. Lance Corporal Victor Reid served with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers on World War Two. The 2nd Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers landed on the shores of Sicily in July 1943. Lance Corporal Victor Reid was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he died in Sicily on 20th July 1943.

Syracuse War Cemetery is located in the Contrada of Canalicchio in the Commune and Province of Syracuse on the island of Sicily, Italy. It lies 3 kilometres west of Syracuse. Turn left at the end of the Catania to Syracuse autostrada and the cemetery will be found approximately 5 kilometres along on the left hand side.
