Summary
William John Moan was a son of Mr. W. J. and Mrs. Catrin Moan of Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone. William was born about 1870. William emigrated to New Zealand. Before enlisting William worked as a gardener. He named his next of kin as his mother, still living in Aughnacloy. After training, he embarked from Wellington on 14th July 1917. Private William John Moan served with the 1st Battalion of the Auckland Infantry Regiment, New Zealand Expeditionary Force (N.Z.E.F.). Private William John Moan was killed in action in France on 1st October 1918 age 48
