Summary
James Woods was the only child of James and Catherine Woods. He was born about 1900 in Eglish, County Tyrone. James’ father was a farmer. The family lived in Mulboy, Derrygortrevy, Tyrone. James Woods enlisted in Dungannon. Private James Woods was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France on 22nd May 1916. He was just 16 years old. Private James Woods is buried in Philosophe British Military Cemetery near Mazingarbe in France.
Philosophe lies between Bethune and Lens. From the Lens-Bethune road (N43), follow the D165E road for 400 metres to a right turn. The cemetery lies to the left 100 metres along this track. The first CWGC sign for the cemetery is at the junction of the N43 and the D165E.
