Summary      
Joseph Donnelly was the second son of Bernard and Brigid Donnelly. He was born on 11th May 1893. He was the second of at least seven children, five surviving. The family lived at Annagher, Coalisland. His father was a hackler. Joseph was a general labourer. Private Joseph Donnelly arrived in France with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers on 2nd May 1915. Private Joseph Donnelly was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France and Flanders on 24th May 1915.

Summary      
Ypres (now Ieper) is a town in the Province of West Flanders. The Memorial is situated at the eastern side of the town on the road to Menin (Menen) and Courtrai (Kortrijk). Each night at 8 pm the traffic is stopped at the Menin Gate while members of the local Fire Brigade sound the Last Post in the roadway under the Memorial's arches.
