09/09/2021 John McKenna was the son of Francis and Annie McKenna. Francis McKenna and Ann McManus were married on 8th January 1873 in the district of Dungannon.
09/09/2021 Note that the CWGC record his age as 26 years old. However research suggests he was born ten years earlier and his age was in fact 36.

09/09/2021 Private John McKenna (6260) was serving with the 1st Battalion of the Scots Guards when he was killed in action near Ypres on Wednesday 5th April 1916.
09/09/2021 Private John McKenna is buried in Potijze Chateau Wood Cemetery north east of Ypres in Belgium. His inscription reads: THEY MISS HIM MOST WHO LOVED HIM BEST
