30/12/2015 There are two reports of Hugh McAlindon's death in the Port Glasgow Express. The first (24.5.1916) gives a photo of Private McAlindon. The second includes a poem by his wife Ruth McAlindon.
30/12/2015 Private Hugh McAlindon is commemorated on the Port Glasgow War Memorial. This is a freestone cenotaph which stands at the traffic lights on the junction of Fore Street in the Inverclyde District of Glasgow.
30/12/2015 The CWGC also record Hugh as the husband of Ruth McAlindon, of 82 Bay Street, Port Glasgow.
30/12/2015 The CWGC record Private Hugh McAlindon as the son of Alexander and Catherine McAlindon, of Port Glasgow.
30/12/2015 Private Hugh McAlindon died of his wounds on 29th April 1916. He was 27 years old.
30/12/2015 Private Hugh McAlindon was serving with the 8th Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers when he was wounded in a gas attack in France.
30/12/2015 Hugh McAlindon was the son of Alexander and Catherine McAlindon. Hugh was born in Coalisland, County Tyrone about 1889.
