Joseph Rafferty was the foster son and nephew of Henry and Eliza Anne Heron. Joseph was born about 1895 in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh. The 1901 census lists Joseph Rafferty as living with the Harren family at house 6 in Aughavoory, Corralongford, County Fermanagh. Joseph Rafferty enlisted in Enniskillen. He was living in Fivemiletown at the time. Private Joseph Rafferty was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France on Saturday 9th September 1916. He was 21 years old.

The 1901 census lists Joseph Rafferty as living with the Harren family at house 6 in Aughavoory, Corrylongford, County Fermanagh. Joseph was 7 years old. Henry Harren was a caretaker.

The 1911 census does not list Joseph as living with the Haron family at house 3 in Tattenabuddagh, Corralongford, County Fermanagh.
Joseph Rafferty enlisted in Enniskillen. He was living in Fivemiletown at the time.

Private Joseph Rafferty has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
