Joseph Rafferty was the son of Daniel and Mary Rafferty. He was born on 19th December 1893 in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh. He later became the foster son of his uncle and aunt, Henry and Eliza Anne Heron. The 1901 census lists Joseph Rafferty as living with the Harren family at house 6 in Aughavoory, Corralongford, County Fermanagh. Joseph Rafferty enlisted in Enniskillen. Private Joseph Rafferty was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France on Saturday 9th September 1916. He was 21 years old.

Joseph Rafferty was the son of Daniel and Mary Rafferty. Daniel Rafferty and Mary Bogue were married on 27th February 1886 in the district of Fermanagh.
Joseph Rafferty was born on 19th December 1893 in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh.

Joseph Rafferty later became the foster son of his uncle and aunt, Henry and Eliza Anne Heron.
The 1901 census lists Joseph Rafferty as living with the Harren family at house 6 in Aughavoory, Corrylongford, County Fermanagh. Joseph was 7 years old. Henry Harren was a caretaker.

The 1911 census does not list Joseph as living with the Haron family at house 3 in Tattenabuddagh, Corralongford, County Fermanagh.
Joseph Rafferty enlisted in Enniskillen. He was living in Fivemiletown at the time.

Private Joseph Rafferty was serving with the 7th Battalion of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers when he was killed in action in France on Saturday 9th September 1916.
Private Joseph Rafferty has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
